Workshop “Schools in an inclusive society” - 07/11/2023
From opportunities for developers to building mixed programs together on government plots, to urban planning visions, the position of the child in the city, the child, all children (inclusive), the parents at the school gate, the neighborhood.
The idea of an inclusive school in a mixed urban planning context will be explained, in the morning, the function of the school from a social point of view by Beno Schraepen- (Artesis Plantijn Hogeschool) Architectural impact on inclusive education and Teun Dekker ( Kroevendonk) , Annelies Geerts of Agion, on the realization of an open school on a small scale, in the afternoon from an urban planning point of view with Jens Aerts of Buur as the first speaker in the afternoon, a broad approach around the position of the child in the city, He is author of the UNICEF publication 'Shaping urbanization for children'. With SMAK Architects we will explain the 'Deleers site' in Anderlecht, where currently a school is being built on top of a KMO-zone next to 4 residential towers around a common public axis towards the canal. Furthermore, we get an explanation from Willem Mariën, lawyer from GDNA about the legal framework and some concrete projects that are coming up in Flanders around these mixed developments with schools.
